Numerical protection relays for Traction system
PRDC has developed a full range of communicable (IEC 60870-5-103) protection and control products also including network automation. PRDC’s IEC 870-103 compliant solutions offer a unified user-experience for operating traction systems from the secondary substation level up to the NCC level. The unified user-experience provides enhanced reliability, safety and the operational efficiency of network control and management. The protection and control devices also measure and collect data from the traction system and intelligent network components for further analysis of faults. The PC based proprietary software developed for these relays can analyze disturbance waveforms and fault events. The numerical relays developed are fully compliant with the specification set by the RDSO, Lucknow. Our designs are tested and certified by CPRI-Bangalore, ETDC-Chennai and SAMEER Labs-Chennai.

GPS Timer synchronizers
We offer high precision GPS synchronization solutions, GPS timing solutions and computer time synchronization devices suitable for numerical relays, SCADA systems, networks or machines. The timing accuracy is to the tune of 244 µsecs using special purpose RTC’s.

Timers
We offer design solutions for high precision timers used in the power system field. Our timers offer a resolution of 0.25 milliseconds. These timers can be used to check the trip / operating timings of numerical relays.

  Vehicle Identification Number / Chassis Number / Engine Number marking Software

This Telesis controller interfaced software helps in the automation of vehicle manufacturing industry. This is customized software being used by various automobile industries across the country. We provide an easy to use system based user interface (GUI) for the operators to punch the numbers on the engine, Id plate or chassis of the vehicles during the production stage.

  Hand held unit for Telesis controller interface for number punching

This hand held device takes the input from the operator directly. It negates the dependability of the operator towards the PC. The operator hence has the freedom to move around various models across the manufacturing unit and punch the number on the engine or id plate etc.

  Poka-Yoke System (Automated Pneumatic Tool)

This automated screwdriver system was developed for MICO BOSCH. This system uses controlled pressure to ensure proper torque of screws, nuts and bolts. The unit also keeps count of number of units tightened. In case there is a mismatch in the set number and actual number, the system gives an audio-visual alarm to indicate the error.

  Software based automation of packaging line

The manually operated element packing and DV packing units of MICO had packaging defects like wrong element in the wrong capsule or capsule without the element etc. MICO wanted to eliminate those defects by automating the process of element packing and DV line packing.
Packing GUI does the automation of the packaging process, which assists the operator to rectify mistakes like wrong element in the wrong capsule, bottling the capsule without the element, wrong element in the batch of elements etc. Sensors and barcode readers are mechanically arranged to check for the above mentioned defects. Packing GUI does the automation process by controlling (printer & printer/applicator) & mechanical conveyor working on PLC logic. The errors occurring in the process & the current working status are displayed on the display board interfaced to the system.

  ANDON Displays System for Assembly Line

  1. ANDON display system is used to keep track of the machines performance, working. Breakdown can quickly be notified and to the line in charge and in turn can be informed to the maintenance people to attend the problem earliest.
    The line planner sets the production of a component per hour and per shift data in the database available in the Remote PC. Planner also configures the shift production target of the component and the type of component being produced in the shift. The operator can also schedule the same for any number of days using the schedule software provided with the display board. Once the data is configured in the PC the same i.e. production information and type of component being produced is transmitted to the display board. Also the next rollout components are also displayed based on the planner input.

SCADA / Protocol Development

  IEC60870-5-103

We have developed complete protocol stack for IEC 60870 - 5 - 103 for communication between protection relays and central SCADA for Indian Railways.

  Modbus

We have developed complete library for MODBUS protocol. This was developed for settings and event uploads and downloads via computer for ALIND numerical relays.

Relay Soft (Computer based Graphical User Interface for numerical relays)

This computer based software is used for settings uploading / downloading. The software is capable of downloading the fault waveforms and does a detailed analysis on these waveforms.

Digital VI Kits
The Digital VI kits are digitally controlled Voltage and Current sources required for testing and calibration of numerical relays and energy meters. Computer based software is used to control the voltage or current. Digital inputs and outputs can be configured through the software to set any automated testing or calibration process.

3 Phase Fault Simulator
Fault Simulator is a sophisticated hardware module developed with the purpose of helping students in their understanding of different types of faults in a 3 Phase system. The system enables the students to visualize different faults in real life situations.

  1. Phase Detection System
    This is the first product of its kind. This device is used for determining any unknown phase in the 3 phase electrical system. This device is of great help to local electricity companies and survey groups. This device when connected to the incoming supply line of any consumer, can determine whether the consumer is in R-Phase, Y-Phase or B-Phase. This helps the utility companies to balance the loads for each of the 3 phases for effective utilization of power.
    This product has got an overwhelming response throughout the industry. The surveyors appointed for the R-APDRP project by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India have been using this product successfully for their projects.

Transmission Line Simulator
In the electrical engineering stream, the aspects of power system analysis and operation and control are imparted both in UG and PG level. Most of the experiments are carried out with the software simulation. However the student cannot visualize the various voltage levels of operation, the losses and the limitation on the physical distances involved in transmission power through long distances. Transmission Line Simulator is a sophisticated module developed with the purpose of helping students in their understanding of some basic ideas in power systems.

Integrated Relay Test Kits
These products are targeted at the educational fraternity. Engineering colleges with UG and PG courses are constrained only to theory of Power System Protection studies. To enable the students have a higher edge we have developed Integrated Relay Test Kits. These kits includes actual real life protection relay along with a fault simulator and other necessary accessories. We offer customized solution for these types of kits. These kits range from the most reliable electromechanical relays to the most modern numerical relays. Our simulators are customized for different types of relays. The kit also includes inbuilt timer for recording the trip time / operating time.
Individual relays fitted in individual panels along with the necessary simulators and accessories facilitate separate experiments to be performed at the same time by different groups of students. Even during exams, different students can perform different experiments at the same time.
